Add Car Hire Excess Protection

ALA Car Hire Excess Protection covers the excess if your hire car is damaged during the rental agreement. The excess charged by car rental companies can be anywhere between £500 and £2,000 per vehicle, so paying a small premium now could save you a large amount of money later.

Car hire companies often charge very high prices for their Excess Waiver or Collision Damage Waiver – the equivalent policy cost from ALA (which includes your standard excess cover) starts from just 24p per day!

Cover Features:

  • Cover available for up to 12 months
  • Covers accidental damage or damage as a result of fire or theft
  • Covers all drivers named on the rental agreement
  • Covers an unlimited number of rentals in the 12-month policy period
  • Covers an unlimited number of days per rental period
  • Covers drivers of any age
  • Choice of level of cover from £150
  • Includes cover for damage wheels and tyres

Can I buy ALA Car Hire Excess Protection?

We can provide you with cover if your vehicle:

  • Is a passenger vehicle, carrying up to a maximum of 8 people including the driver
  • Is hired from authorised vehicle rental company
  • Is used for social, domestic and pleasure purposes only
  • Is insured by an authorised and regulated motor insurer

You must also be a permanent UK resident with current and valid UK or full European driving licence.

What is not covered?

  • Any incident which occurs in the first 30 days of the policy
  • Personal effects, accessories, glass or audio/visual equipment
  • An excess which has been waived or covered by a third party
  • More than two claims in the policy period
  • Damage caused by any driver who is not named on the rental agreement
  • Commercial vehicles, vehicles used solely for delivery/courier purposes, hire or reward, driving tuition, taxis, racing, pace making, speed testing or reliability trials

When does my cover under the policy end?

The policy will end:

  • at the end date of the policy
  • after a maximum of 2 claims have been made; or
  • when the benefit level on the schedule has been reached

Whichever comes first.
